Former Vice President of the Firebase Crew, Bucha Man, whose real name is Mark Bugembe, has sparked conversation after criticizing rising dancehall artist Mark Da Urban despite acknowledging his talent.
Speaking during an interview with Galaxy TV, Bucha Man described Mark Da Urban as a gifted musician with great potential but expressed disappointment over what he called a lack of seriousness in his music career.
According to Bucha Man, Mark Da Urban had a strong start in the industry and quickly gained attention from Ugandan music fans who believed he would become one of the next big stars.
“When Mark Da Urban debuted on the scene, Ugandans had high hopes and gave him a chance. However, he blew it by not delivering what was expected of him, forcing fans to shift their attention to other artists,” Bucha Man said.
The former Firebase Crew member emphasized that talent alone is not enough to succeed in the competitive music industry, adding that consistency and determination are key factors for any artist aiming for long-term success.
“He is good, but not serious. If he were, he would have already had his breakthrough because Ugandans had a lot of hope in him. No artist raised people’s expectations more than Mark Da Urban,” he added.
Bucha Man also dismissed claims that the artist’s time to shine is yet to come, insisting that success depends largely on personal effort and hunger to succeed.

“He is not serious yet, and I believe he lacks the hunger for fame. He is my boy, and I know him, but he has not yet developed the desire to become what people expect him to be. It takes hunger and sacrifice. You can be talented but still fail to become a star, and people won’t even notice you,” he explained.
His remarks have since sparked mixed reactions among fans, with some agreeing with his assessment while others believe Mark Da Urban still has time to prove himself in Uganda’s music scene.
