“The train damaged the rear part of the bus, but fortunately no lives were lost and no injuries were reported,” Onyango said.
He says police responded promptly to the scene, took statements from witnesses, and are conducting further investigations. The bus, the train, and the operator were taken to Uganda Railway offices in Kyetume, where the driver is assisting with ongoing inquiries.
Onyango cautioned drivers to exercise maximum vigilance when approaching railway crossings.
“We want to remind all motorists that overspeeding and failure to observe traffic rules have serious consequences. Divers must adhere to safety guidelines, especially while crossing railway points, to avoid accidents,” Onyango said.
In conclusion, we call upon drivers to carefully follow rules when crossing the railway line to reduce the number of death accidents.
