Real Madrid have continued the trend of renewals that began with Luka Modric by giving Lucas Vazquez another year on his contract.
On Thursday morning, Real Madrid confirmed the renewal of Lucas Vazquez’s contract for another season. The home-grown player has taken on a secondary role for many seasons now and has even dared to convert from winger to full-back when his coaching staff needed him to. Now, he has earned another year of continuity after winning the Champions League.
In this way, the ‘Merengues’ board continues the wave of extensions that began with that of Luka Modric. On the other hand, Nacho Fernandez, who had the approval of Florentino Perez’s leadership to stay, opted for a change of scenery and headed for Saudi Arabia, where he will have a more important profile and, in turn, will receive a salary in line with his status to retire with financial security.

The protagonist of this news item only left Santiago Bernabeu once in his career, when he spent the 2014–15 campaign at Espanyol. On his return, he suffered an understandable loss of playing time considering the quality that has always been part of the ‘Merengues’ squad. In fact, this season, one of the attractions of his remaining is to share space with a host of stars enhanced by Kylian Mbappe and Endrick.
“Real Madrid CF and Lucas Vazquez have agreed to extend the contract of our player, who remains linked to the club until June 30, 2025. Lucas Vázquez has played 349 games for our team, in which he has scored 36 goals, and is an international with Spain, for whom he has played nine games,” reads the text published by Real Madrid.
In conclusion, the player is now committed until June 30th next year, meaning he will continue to be a useful player for Carlo Ancelotti.
