Ragga Dee revealed he has been friends with celebrated Congolese musician Awilo Longomba for three decades in the music industry.
Dee, real name Daniel Kazibwe, first met the Congolese superstar when he came to Uganda to perform alongside the late Gabonese afro-zouk singer Oliver N’Goma.
“I saw Awilo 30 years ago when he had come to perform with Oliver Ngoma, and we became friends,” said Ragga Dee while appearing on Galaxy FM on Friday, August 4.
“So that’s my friend…” he continued after DJ Nimrod, a co-host of the show on which he appeared, asked about his involvement in the ‘Legends of Sound’ concert, which is taking place today, August 5, at the Sheraton Hotel Kampala.
According to Dee, he has performed with Awilo Longomba in France, Belgium, and London. Awilo Longomba, who is 61 years old, has been performing live for over four decades.
The ‘Legends of Sound’ concert is a one-of-a-kind collaboration, and it is set to create an extraordinary experience for music enthusiasts with a mix of Afrobeats, Rumba, Jazz, Lingala, and timeless classics that will make this night an unforgettable celebration of African music.
However, The concert will feature captivating performances by the Afrigo Band, renowned Congolese artist Awilo Longomba, talented musicians Mesach Semakula and Raggae Dee, as well as the skilled DJ Alberto.
The event will be hosted by none other than Ugandan actor, comedian, director, producer, and radio personality Abbey Mukiibi, adding an extra touch of charisma and wit to the evening.
In conclusion, This celebration is not only about honoring Afrigo Band’s legacy but also serves as an opportunity to showcase the rich heritage of Uganda’s music and the diversity of African musical artistry.
