As we are approaching the campaign moments for the candidates, the Uganda Police Force (UPF) has launched a nationwide recruitment exercise for more than 100,000 Election Special Police Constables (SPCs) ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The temporary officers will assist in maintaining law and order during the highly charged electoral period.
The official announcement indicates that each recruit will serve on a three-month contract, earning Shs469,000 per month, and will be deployed in their home districts to support the regular police force in policing electoral activities. The application deadline is November 1, 2025.

Successful applicants will undergo a one-month basic security training before deployment. Candidates are required to be Ugandan citizens aged 18 and above, possess a national ID, and have at least a Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) result slip. Women are encouraged to apply.
Every election season, police recruit thousands of such constables to reinforce security operations across the country.
Applicants are required to submit handwritten applications addressed to the Inspector General of Police, accompanied by photocopies of academic documents, national identity cards, a recent passport-size photograph, and recommendation letters from their LCI, LCIII, and GISO officials.
In conclusion, anyone found forging documents or impersonating others will face arrest and prosecution.
