The NUP MP for Bukoto South in Lwengo district, Hon. Twaha Kagabo, has likened his party to a football team that plays soccer galas. According to the MP, such teams don’t know how to play a marathon of games.
However, NUP members can only play one game at a time. Therefore, they can’t win the league. He went ahead and advised people to look for other teams to support.
Furthermore, Twaha Kagabo said that he realized the Makerere Kavule-based party couldn’t oust President Museveni because it was never their objective.

This is therefore why he belongs to the MK movement and the NUP itself, and he’s also welcome to the NRM. Besides, the legislator said that he’s a government adviser when necessary and not an opponent.
“I realized NUP’s objective was not to remove Museveni. If it were football, NUP would be playing gala football, one-day matches, but when it comes to a league, they can’t manage it. NUP is a gala team and can’t win the league. I advise people to look for another team that can win a trophy.”
“As Kagabo, I belong to the National Unity Platform, I also belong to the MK movement, and I am an NRM well-wisher. I don’t oppose the government but advise it.”.
Apparently, all this stems from the ‘Kunga‘ activities in the Masaka subregion. NUP suspended the mobilization activities there a while ago amidst rumors of a rift in the party administration.
In conclusion, this move wasn’t well received in Masaka, according to sources, since Mpuuga is one of their most distinguished sons. NUP has also acknowledged this problem but said it’s an administrative one that will be solved soon.
