Fire Destroys Motor Garage and Workshop in Makerere Ku Bbiri

A devastating fire broke out early Thursday morning, December 19, 2024, at a motor garage and carpentry workshop in Makerere Ku Bbiri, behind the Crown House building.

However, the inferno, which reportedly began around 4:30 a.m., caused significant destruction, consuming vehicles brought in for repairs and valuable furniture items. Property worth millions of shillings has been reduced to ashes.

Residents in the vicinity woke up to thick smoke and flames engulfing the premises. Efforts to contain the fire were initially hampered by its intensity, with firefighters and police still battling the blaze more than two hours later. By press time, the situation remained critical, raising concerns about the extent of the losses and the safety of nearby structures.
