Sources from the Ministry of Defense and the Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF) have dismissed allegations linking Charles Mbire to Gen. Salim Saleh as an aide, describing the claims as “inaccurate” and “unfounded.”
The rumor stems from an online media outlet that alleged that Mbire was involved in transactions related to Greenland Bank and Uganda Commercial Bank (UCB), suggesting he acted on behalf of Saleh as his aide.
However, sources familiar with Mbire’s background emphasize that he has no connection to Saleh’s military service or role as an ADC.
As an economist, Mbire has made significant contributions to Uganda’s financial sector.

His paper on assessing the viability and profitability of the banking sector was instrumental in guiding investors who acquired UCB, which later became Stanbic Bank.
An Essex University-trained economist with an MBA from Leicester University and a specialist in mergers and acquisitions acted and always acts professionally.
He has prepared investment appraisals for investors in the banking sector in Uganda.

Sources in the army stress that Mbire’s image should not be tarnished by unfounded allegations.
The matter highlights the need for accuracy in reporting, particularly when addressing individuals’ professional reputations.
