The Anti-Corruption Court in Nakasero has re-summoned two senior officials from the Alebtong District Local Government to answer charges of causing financial loss to the government in connection with the alleged irregular payment of more than Shs165 million to a private construction company.
According to court records, the officials are accused of authorizing and facilitating payments amounting to Shs165 million to the company under circumstances that allegedly contravened established financial management procedures within local governments.
The prosecution alleges that the payments were made irregularly, resulting in a financial loss to the government. Investigators believe the funds were released without proper verification of the works claimed to have been executed by the construction firm.

The Nakasero-based anti-corruption court reissued the summons after the officials reportedly failed to appear before court as earlier directed. The court has now ordered the two officials to appear and answer the charges as investigations and prosecution of the case proceed.
If convicted, the officials could face penalties under Uganda’s anti-corruption laws, which criminalize actions by public officers that result in financial loss to the government through negligence, abuse of office, or failure to follow proper procedures.
The Anti-Corruption Court, a specialized division of the judiciary, continues to handle cases involving misuse of public resources and abuse of office by public officials across the country.
The matter is expected to come up for further proceedings once the summoned officials appear before court.
