Police in Kanungu District have arrested Byaruhanga Hillary, a 28-year-old private security guard, for the fatal shooting of businessman Anthony Mutinisa, the owner of Mutinisa Motors Uganda.
Mutinisa, aged 53, was shot on Sunday evening, and his vehicle (registration UA 769 BQ) was stolen by the suspect. Both were recovered in Katwe Cell, Kihihi Town Council.
ACP Rusoke Kituuma confirmed the arrest of Byaruhanga, an employee of Don World Security Limited, and his accomplice, Akampa Mark.

Although details remained limited by press time, the incident has shocked the Kanungu community. Mutinisa was discovered lifeless in his office, suggesting a targeted act. The stolen vehicle was later traced to Kihihi, corroborating the swift response of local police.
Furthermore, these incidents have raised serious concerns over the vetting and regulation of private security personnel. Critics argue that inadequate oversight contributes to increasing violence and misuse of firearms.
ACP Kituuma urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious behavior. “A security guard employed to protect people took a life and stole; this is deeply troubling,” he said. Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind Mutinisa’s killing.
