Rev. Canon Prof. Grace Lubaale has today been consecrated as the fourth Bishop of the Busoga diocese in a colorful ceremony, succeeding Rt. Rev. Paul Moses Samson Naimanhye, who retired on October 9 after 9 years of service to the church.
The consecration that was led by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, His Grace, the Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba, took place at the Bugembe playgrounds in Jinja City and was witnessed by thousands of faithful and clergy.
During the consecration, Archbishop Kaziimba urged Bishop Lubaale to follow the example of Jesus Christ and His apostles while guiding the Diocese with faith and dedication.

“Following the example of Christ and His apostles, I present Dr. Lubaale to you. We trust that the Holy Spirit has called him to lead faithfully,” he said.
While taking his oath before the clergy, Bishop Lubaale pledged to uphold the teachings of the Church and to oppose all erroneous and unbiblical doctrines, including homosexuality, lesbianism, secularism, materialism, consumerism, and liberalism.
“While taking my oath, I commit to showing mercy and compassion for the poor, the needy, strangers, and all who are destitute or helpless, serving faithfully in the spirit of Christ,” he said.
Vice President Jessica Alupo represented President Yoweri Museveni as the chief guest at the consecration ceremony.
Rev. Canon Prof. Grace Lubaale was elected as the fourth Bishop of Busoga Diocese in October by the House of Bishops sitting at Lweza Training and Conference Centre.
Bishop Lubaale’s Background
Born on October 9, 1978, in Bugombya Zone, Butansi Parish, Butansi Sub-county, Bugabula County in Kamuli District, Lubaale’s faith journey began in December 1994 when he committed his life to Christ.
His calling to ministry saw him ordained as a deacon in 2008 and as a priest in 2009 in the Diocese of Kampala.
In November 2024, he was installed as Canon of Education and Training at All Saints’ Cathedral, Kampala.
Beyond the pulpit, Lubaale is a distinguished academic, holding a Ph.D. in Development Studies, two master’s degrees—one in Theology and another in Development Studies—and a Bachelor of Arts with Education.
His ministry has consistently emphasized education, discipleship, and holistic community transformation.
He is married to Clare Louise Atuheirwe, and together they are blessed with four children.
