The German international Marc Andre Ter Stegen signs a contract extension with his contract club Barcelona until 2028.
The professional goalkeeper has signed a new five-year contract with the Blaugrana, making him one of the top four goalkeepers the club has ever had.
He was promoted to the position of vice captain during the summer break. Ter Stegen is one of the most valuable players at Barcelona.
Reportedly, the contract extension will see the goalkeeper lower his wages to help the club, which is going through financial issues at the moment. With the lowered income at the club, he gets an additional three years when his previous contract expires in the next two seasons.
The German international has not only committed himself to the club but has also helped them financially by lowering his salary.
However, this season the German international is expected to climb up to the number 1 spot, overtaking Antoni Ramallets (387 caps) and Andoni Zubizarrata (410). Victor Valdes is currently at the top with 535 outings for the club.
With four players still left in their final year at Barcelona: Sergi Roberto, Marcos Alonso, Lamine Yamal, and Alejandro Balde.
Balde reportedly agreed to a contract extension with the club, and the 16-year-old Yamal is expected to sign a senior contract soon with the club.
His career so far:
Born on April 30, 1992, he is a professional footballer who plays for Spanish club Barcelona and the German National Team.
He joined Borussia Monchengladbach in 2011 and stayed until 2014. Making 103 appearances for the club.
In conclusion, he moved to Barcelona in 2014 for €12 million, playing for the club in the Copa del Rey and Champions League.
