On Tuesday, it was good news at Santiago Bernabéu as their Frenchman, Ferland Mendy, rejoined the squad for training after suffering an injury in the Copa del Rey final.
The Frenchman has been recovering for months following an injury sustained in the Copa del Rey final. He had been struggling with fitness even before that match and has not been available for selection since the change in management.
Mendy still requires a period of adjustment and further training sessions with the team before he can be considered for selection. However, he looked cheerful at Valdebebas on Tuesday as he worked alongside his teammates. Additionally, he will have to face stiff competition for a place in the team from Alvaro Carreras and Fran García.

Furthermore, the former Benfica player has generally been preferred in that position thus far, but Mendy offers a more defensively minded profile. Depending on the system, he could even provide cover at center-back if needed.
Five months after the injury he picked up just 11 minutes into the Copa del Rey final against Barça on April 26th, Mendy is a step closer to full fitness.
His presence on the team will boost Real Madrid’s defense this season, though he still requires more time to fit in with the squad.
In conclusion, let’s pray he works for the team as their target is the La Liga trophy as well as the Champions League.
