Brighton officially confirmed the signing of Spanish international Ansu Fati from Barcelona on a season-long loan.
The Spain international has penned down a season-long loan with Brighton at the American Express Community Stadium with no option for a permanent signing.
Brighton will be paying 80% of his contract for ten months until next June, as he will be earning £160,000 per week, summing up to £7 million.
Further more, it’s been an interesting summer of signings for Brighton, as they are boosting their squad for the UEFA Europa League campaign.
Fati was previously linked to another Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur, this summer.
Owing to a major competition in Barcelona, the 20-year-old has been allowed to move to another club, but on a loan basis without the option of a permanent signing, as he will return to the club after his loan spell.
Brighton, who made it to the top six in the last campaign of the Premier League, has been in the business of building a strong and reliable team as they’re top contenders in the Europa League.
However, Brighton Coach Roberto de Zerbi’s statement on the player was, I’m very pleased. It’s a big player. We lost Enciso, and we needed one big player”.
We are lucky because we have a lot of young players and potentially top players; it will be one more responsibility.
And we can’t make mistakes with these players because football needs talents, and you have to manage them in different ways.
In conclusion, Fati has also been successful with the Spanish national team, winning the Spanish Super Cup and the UEFA Nations League with Spain.
