The Territorial Police in Kassanda on Sunday, August 13th, 2023, recorded a fatal accident that occurred at around 3 a.m. at Myanzi Trading Centre in Kassanda District along the Mubende-Mityana highway, leading to the loss of four lives and three (3) others sustained injuries.
According to SP Kawala Racheal, the Wamala Region Police spokesperson, preliminary investigations suggest that a black Fuso Fighter motor vehicle, registration UAY 415C, loaded with matooke, heading towards Kampala from Mubende, experienced a brake failure.
The injured have been taken to Mityana Hospital for necessary medical care, and the police have thoroughly documented and examined the scene of the incident as the bodies of the deceased have been transported to Kassanda Health Center IV mortuary, awaiting postmortem examinations.
However, Kawala adds that it was at this point that the vehicle lost control and overturned, resulting in the instantaneous deaths of four occupants and injuring three others.
At present, the identities of the deceased remain to be confirmed. The injured have been identified by Kawala as Nambusi Grace, 40, residing in Kikajo, Namasuba, Wakiso District; Bright Patrick, 34, a businessperson residing in Kibiri-Busabaala, Wakiso District; and Nadunga Lydia, 42, a businesswoman residing in Kalerwe.
In conclusion, The motor vehicle involved has been towed to Myanzi Police Station pending an Inspection of Vehicles (IOV) assessment, according to SP Kawala.
