Dr. Kizza Besigye’s wife, Winnie Byanyima, has promised to support him through these hard times. She made this statement following his recent arrest weeks ago over firearm charges. He was arrested in Nairobi, Kenya, and sneaked back into Uganda.
However, Winnie Byanyima was the first person to post about it on social media. In the beginning, she said that her husband was abducted, and after putting pressure on the authorities, they brought him to court.
Besigye was accused of having illegal firearms but wasn’t sentenced. His team is preparing to fight the case and get him out of prison.

According to Byanyima, some people think that she is going back to the USA, where she has been living for a while. She said that she is in the country to fight for her husband’s justice.
She told uncovered news reporters that “I’m not here to say that I am here for one or two days, no. Kizza Besigye is my life partner; I will be fighting for him to get justice. If he is found guilty in a proper court of law, I will be there visiting him in prison. I believe he is innocent”.
It should be noted that Kizza Besigye was arrested in Nairobi last month. He had gone to attend a book launch of Kenya’s former Minister of Justice, Martha Karua. He didn’t even make it to the venue as unknown people abducted him from his hotel.
In conclusion, she also claimed that even if he is found guilty, she will be visiting him in prison until he gets out. However, at the moment, she believes he is innocent.
