The Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja, has assured Ugandans that in a few years to come, almost everyone will be in a position to access cheap Internet connectivity and affordable Internet-enabled gadgets.
With other stake holders who participated in the opening ceremony of the National ICT Job Fair 2024 on Thursday.
While officiating the grand opening of the 3rd National ICT Job Fair, Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja, the Prime Minister of Uganda, revealed that the government of Uganda has invested a lot and committed to invest more in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, which is the fastest-growing sector globally with a wide range of opportunities.
“The government remains committed to addressing a number of challenges faced by the ICT sector, including the high internet prices. We shall reduce the cost of the Internet; we shall also increase the affordability of digital devices by reducing their prices.”

Furthermore, she also noted that the government is committed to curbing cyber harassment on top of expanding broadband connectivity to all corners of the country so that no one is left behind in terms of digital transformation.
“I commend Huawei for having partnered with us (the government) in organising this ICT job fair, which is a vital platform that bridges the gap between students, young professionals, the government of Uganda, and the private sector. It provides opportunities for employment, internships, mentorship, and skills enhancement in the emerging technology.”
In conclusion, Nabbanja further called upon the young people to fully utilise the ICT job fair, to benchmark, learn, and tap into the abundant opportunities that have been extended to them.
