A tragic incident has cast a shadow over the Liverpool Champions League opener in Milan, as a devoted fan lost his life in a road accident.
According to reports from Italian outlets Il Corriere della Sera and La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 51-year-old supporter was struck by an SUV while attempting to cross the A4 motorway near Orio al Serio airport in Bergamo at around 1 a.m. on Monday night.
The fan, whose name has not yet been released, was reportedly trying to reach the NH Hotel when the accident occurred. He managed to cross three lanes of the busy highway before being hit by the vehicle. Despite efforts, he tragically lost his life at the scene.

Heartbreakingly, the fan had a ticket for Liverpool’s much-anticipated Champions League match against AC Milan at the San Siro in his pocket, alongside his passport, at the time of his death. This tragic loss has deeply affected the Liverpool fan community, with many expressing their condolences and solidarity with the deceased fan’s family.
