Police have confirmed that Kamuli District Chairperson Maxwell Kuwembula has died in a horrific road accident that occurred today, Thursday, June 12, 2025, morning in Nakifuma, Mukono District, along the Gayaza–Kayunga road.
However, Ms. Loy Ziramuke, the Mukono District Officer in Charge of Traffic, told Uncovered Ug news reporters that Kuwembula, who was coming from the Kampala side, met his death when he knocked a stationary Sinotruck at around 5:00 am.
It is reported that Chairman Kuwembula, who was alone, was personally driving a Toyota Hilux double-cabin pickup truck belonging to the Ministry of Health, which he has been using for official duties, and his body has been retrieved and taken to Kayunga General Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Furthermore, the police said that the accident caused a big impact, and the vehicle’s engine compartment ripped apart, shattered windshields, and blood-stained debris indicated the force of the impact.
The late Kuwembula had been serving as the district chairperson since 2021 and was known for his close ties to both local and central government leadership, and his death is a big blow to the leadership of the Busoga sub-region.
In conclusion, we reached out to the family members, and they promised to share with us the burial arrangements for the late Maxwell Kuwembula. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
