Important People Uganda has lost in 2022
As the year of 2022 is coming to an end, uncovered news has brought you a list of the important people Uganda has lost who were adding value to the country. Uganda being the Pearl of Africa, it had important leaders who had helped it to develop ever since 1962 when we got independence from the whites. the list is endless, but lets show some of the important figures that died in this year as shown below:
Proffesor Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile (January 27, 1949 – January 23, 2022)
Prof Mutebile was appointed by President Museveni to be the Governor of the Bank of Uganda and he served in this role from 2001 until when he died.
Its remembered that he also served as the secretary to the treasury from 1992 up to 2001 where he became the governor. He was a great friend to the president because he helped to stabilise the economy of Uganda in 1986.
Gen Elly Tumwine (April 22, 1954 – August 25, 2022)Â
He is remembered for firing the first bullet that launched the bush war that brought NRM government of President Museveni in to power.
Due to over smoking, its believed that the General died of lung cancer.
Jacob Oulanyah (March 23, 1965 – March 20, 2022)
Motor cycle lover who preferred using it than a vehicle when going to work. The previous years he was a deputy speaker to Rebecca Kadaga but eventually he became the speaker of the Republic of Uganda in 2022 after the presidential elections where President Museveni won NUP principal Kyagulanyi Sentamu Robert . He was also a member of Parliament of Omoro district and was burred in his ancestral home in Omoro district in northern Uganda.
Papa Emorimor Osuban Lemukol Augustine (August 12, 1934 – February 4, 2022)
Papa Emorimor is remembered for being a uniting person for the Teso region across the world. its believed that the Culutural leader died of covid -19 at Mulago Referrral Hospital where he spent two weeks treating the disease but eventually the Lord called him. He was later burried in Teso region as a cultural leader hero
Justice Rubby Opio Aweri (May 31, 1953 – December 7, 2022)
He is remembered for serving as the Judiciary for four decades. He started his political career in 1983 as the Grade One Magistrate.
He has been the justice of Supreme court at the time of his death. He is believed to have died of stroke.
As I told you earlier that the list is endless, i have tried to show you some of the important figures that are to be remembered before we go into the next year of 2023
