DPP Drops Child Trafficking Charges Against Socialite Don Nasser

Uganda’s Directorate of Public Prosecutions has formally withdrawn all charges against socialite Don Nasser, bringing to an end a nearly two-year court battle involving allegations of child trafficking and defilement.

During a court session held on Tuesday, prosecutors presented a nolle prosequi letter, a legal instrument that terminates criminal proceedings. No official explanation was provided for the decision.

Nasser had been jointly charged with co-accused Promise Ateete. According to prosecution claims, Ateete allegedly communicated with a 16-year-old girl via Snapchat before introducing her to Nasser.

Court records indicate that the minor was later taken to residences in Kamokya and Kira, both within Kampala, where the suspects were accused of administering drugs before sexually exploiting her. The allegations were denied by the accused.
