In a significant move following the alarming attack at her Civil Lines residence, the security detail for Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has been officially transferred from the Delhi Police to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
The swift decision, enacted late Wednesday night, comes after a preliminary inquiry revealed major security lapses. A man from Gujarat, posing as a complainant, managed to breach protocols during a ‘Jan Sunwai’ (public hearing), highlighting a critical need for change. The alleged non-response of on-duty personnel during the incident prompted this high-level reassessment.
The CRPF has now assumed charge of providing CM Gupta’s ‘Z’ category security cover. This elite protection entails a dedicated team of approximately 22-25 personnel, including personal security officers, armed escorts, and static guards. The central force is already conducting reviews with stakeholders and is expected to implement a revised, more robust protocol for public engagements and meetings.

It underscores a commitment to learning from past oversights and ensuring such a breach never happens again. The nation watches, hopeful that this enhanced shield will allow CM Gupta to continue her work serving the people of Delhi with confidence and absolute security.
In conclusion, this transition marks a pivotal moment, emphasizing that the safety of our elected leaders is paramount.
