President Yoweri Museveni has promoted the Director of Crime Intelligence, Brigadier General Christopher Ddamulira, to the rank of Major General.
This promotion comes after his recognition for his longstanding service in intelligence and his critical role in safeguarding national security. However, this information was confirmed on Sunday night by the Commander-in-Chief in a presidential message.
“I am grateful to the Commander-in-Chief for elevating me,” Maj. Gen. Ddamulira told colleagues shortly after receiving the news.

Furthermore, the swift and intelligence-led response has been widely credited to the effective coordination of Uganda Police’s Crime Intelligence Directorate with military forces.
Before taking charge of crime intelligence, Ddamulira had an extensive career in military intelligence. He served in the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) and played a role in high-risk operations against the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) in northern Uganda and across the region.
His unit’s fieldwork was instrumental in dismantling LRA networks and securing areas previously destabilized by Joseph Kony’s insurgency.
Ddamulira is also known for spearheading efforts to engage and rehabilitate ghetto youth, particularly in Kampala’s informal settlements.

Through targeted outreach and partnership with community leaders, he has championed programs encouraging youth to embrace government initiatives and reject criminal influences, fostering trust between law enforcement and marginalized communities.
In conclusion, his promotion is viewed as a strong vote of confidence from President Museveni and the military establishment.
