The Police in the Southwestern Ugandan District of Ntungamo, are investigating circumstances under which two lost lives in a fatal crash along the Ntungamo Kabale highway.
According to AIP Benard Manzi, the officer in charge of traffic at Rubaare Police station, the accident involved the motor vehicle registration number UBN 677/T belonging to the National Environment Management Authority, driven by Gerald Jakwonga, aged 49, a resident of Kasokoso in Wakiso district.
Manzi added that the said vehicle was involved in a collision with motorcycle registration number UGH 828/T ridden by Henry Tibesigwa, a bodaboda, at the Kyamugashe stage.

This, according to him, happened on Friday, November 1st, 2024, at 6:35 p.m. at Kyamugashe, Katinda Ntungamo, along the Ntungamo-Kabale Highway.
Manzi told the press that it happened when the boda boda rider, without showing any signal, turned to the right. During the process, the motor vehicle hit him together with his passenger, causing them serious injuries that resulted in their deaths.
The victims were identified as Henry Tibesigwa, 37, a bodaboda rider, and the passenger, Miracle Aryatwijuka, 17, a student at Ruyonzya Seed Secondary School in senior four. The deceased persons are all residents of Rwemiyaga cell, Kakukuru Rwenanuura town council in Ruhaama County of Ntungamo district.
AIP Manzi said that he visited the scene together with a team of traffic officers from Rubaare Police Station, documented it, and quickly rushed the male victim to Doctors Referral Hospital Rubaare in critical conditions, where he died upon arrival. The female victim died on the way as she was being rushed to Mbarara regional referral hospital.
The motor vehicle is parked at Rubaare Police Station yard pending IOV inspection as efforts to trace the motorcycle, which was taken by unknown people after the incident is underway, and enquiries in the matter are at hand.
