Mrs. Jolly Kyomugasho Mugisha, the Deputy President of the National Unity Platform (NUP) for Western Uganda, is dead. She died at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital on Monday afternoon, where she has been admitted for some weeks.
NUP party president Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, announced the sad news through his X account, formally Twitter.
“It’s with great sadness that I announce the passing of Hon. Jolly Mugisha, the National Unity Platform Deputy President for Western Uganda. Mama Jolly has passed on this afternoon from Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, where she has been admitted in a coma for several weeks. Mama Jolly will always be remembered as a true Ugandan heroine. Other communication will be made in due course,” said Kyagulanyi.

Born in Buhanama, Itojo Sub County in Ntungamo District, Kyomugasho has been a social worker by training and a politician by conviction.
She has been the Deputy President of the National Unity Platform (NUP), the leading opposition political party in Uganda. She joined NUP in July 2020 and was appointed to head the party in Western Uganda, the area that is home to the majority of leaders and founders of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), including the president.
