Olympique Lyon officially confirms the signing of English player Ainsley Maitland Niles from Arsenal on a four-year deal for free.
The English international has joined the French Ligue 1 side Les Gones as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Arsenal.
Maitland-Niles spent last season on loan at Southampton, where he made 22 appearances.

The former Arsenal player signed a contract for four years with Lyon, until June 2027.
He is the first English player to sign for Lyon. His contract is expected to last for four years at least, although he is a free agent. However, He will play alongside former teammates Alexandre Lacazette and Duje Caleta Car.
Given the monitoring of their transfers this session, Lyon has been mostly compelled to boost their squad with on-loan players and free agents.
Maitland Niles career so far
Born in London in 1997, Ainsley joined the Arsenal Academy at the age of 6. A talented performer in all young player categories.
Maitland-Niles made his professional debut on December 9, 2014, in a Champions League match against Galatasaray.
Taking his career to the highest level, he moved to championship side Ipswich on loan for the 2015/16 season, appearing in 32 matches before returning to Arsenal.
He played in 132 matches for Arsenal and won four trophies,two community shields, and two England cups.
In conclusion, he was on loan at As Roma for the 2021–22 season, with whom he won the UEFA Europa League title, and Southampton last season.
