Kampala, Uganda – Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Chris Baryomunsi, has dismissed reports claiming that opposition politician Dr. Kizza Besigye is seriously ill.
Addressing concerns circulating on social media, Baryomunsi said the claims are false. He explained that Dr. Besigye recently experienced a minor bout of diarrhea, which was promptly treated by his personal doctor. The minister confirmed that the former presidential candidate has fully recovered and remains in good health while continuing his prison sentence.
The clarification comes amid heightened public interest in the welfare of incarcerated political figures in Uganda. Dr. Besigye, a four-time presidential candidate and longtime opposition leader, has often been at the center of political controversy, making any health-related reports a matter of public concern.
Baryomunsi urged the public to rely on verified information and cautioned against spreading unconfirmed rumors that may cause unnecessary alarm.
